RIGHT BLOW, block -- GANMEN SHUTO
Description
Begin with uke doing the right roundhouse attack. Tori
blocks first with left in the standard shuto uke fashion, then
allows his left hand
to slide overtop of uke's right elbow. Continuing the motion of
uke's right blow, tori pulls uke off balance onto uke's right foot,
using his grip behind uke's right elbow (tensho). Near the point of
overbalance, tori delivers a knife-edge, palm-up strike (ganmen-shuto) with his right hand to uke's left temple.
