FRONT CHOKE, parry -- HAITO - CROSS SHUTO
Description
This technique begins from the uke attempting a front choke (both hands extended to grab around the neck, thumbs inward) on the tori. Tori parrys the choke with the left hand and strikes to the midsection with the right hand, folding uke over. Then, tori withdraws right hand and delivers a cross shuto to the back of uke's neck (fifth cervical vertebra).
Steps
- uke attempts front choke
- tori cross-parries with left hand pushing uke's choke out of the way
- tori steps deep with left foot and strikes to uke's midsection with right haito - arm should be held with elbow slightly bent, strike is with the thumb edge of the hand, with thumb tucked safely in.
- tori withdraws right hand and delivers cross-shuto to uke's unprotected neck.
